A space for youth to bond, acknowledge the past and set goals for the future.
For the past four years, Access has held a tradition that is near and dear to the community, the Annual New Kick Off for 16-24 year old's in San Diego County. This tradition began as a safe space for youth to learn more about our services and find inspiration for the new year.
Through carefully selected themes, games, and delicious food youth from all over San Diego would meet each other to share commonalities and create plans to reach their education, employment and life goals.
This year we knew that a New Year Kick Off was more important than ever, after a tumultuous 2020. In order to connect with our youth and remind them that there is still so much hope for the future, we launched our first ever virtual New Year Kick Off. While it is not the same, we cherished the time we spent on:
Sharing stories of the most challenging moments of 2020.
Sharing ways that helped us cope with the challenges.
Share goals we are looking forward to achieving in the new year.
Reminding each other to stay strong and lean on support when needed.
While the times are still uncertain, our pivot to a virtual platform still held the most valuable features of our annual kick off. Youth walked away knowing that they are not alone during this time. That we are dedicated and focused as an Access Family on providing them with the resources they need to reach success.
