Young people are connected to fellow young adults who will provide support, motivation, mentoring, and other community resources that help them gain the confidence and skills necessary for their future success.
Access is looking for Peer Mentors, ages 18-24, to provide support, motivation, and guidance to Youth Participants, 14-24. Peer Mentors provide current and former participants with program support during all phases of participation from eligibility through follow-up. The Peer Mentor utilizes lived experience and community connections to provide advocacy, increase engagement, and help with connections to services and resources while providing a human-centered approach. You will learn how to be a positive role model, have leadership skills, and work in a nonprofit.

Peer Mentor
Job Description
Looking for Peer Mentors, ages 18-24, to provide support, motivation, and guidance to Youth Participants, 14-24. If you have the desire to learn about or work in the Human Services field this is the perfect place to start!
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Peer Mentor provides current and former participants with program support during all phases of participation from eligibility through follow-up. The Peer Mentor utilizes lived experience and community connections to provide advocacy, increase engagement, and help with connections to services and resources while providing a human-centered approach. You will learn how to be a positive role model, have leadership skills, and work in a nonprofit.
Peer Mentors will receive internal and external training as well as job supervision; participating in staff meetings, supervision sessions, ongoing training, and receiving periodic evaluations. The Peer Mentors will work directly with Career Navigators, Adult Mentors, and the Business Service Representative (BSR) team to assist Youth Participants in completing program deliverables.
Peer Mentor duties will include but are not limited to:
● Assist in conducting outreach, recruitment, eligibility, registration, and assessments
● Meet individual monthly enrollment goals
● Host and participate in community events
● Inform current and follow up Youth Participants of upcoming events, training, and employment opportunities.
● Attend required professional development training, program, and staff meetings
● Assist the Youth team (Career Navigator, Adult mentor, and Business Service Representative) in coordinating and following up on youth progress and goal setting
● Assist Career Navigators with case management and follow up activities and services
The position is contingent on passing a background check, having reliable transportation with proof of insurance and the right to work in the US documentation.

Development & leadership
Through leadership training, life-skills classes and other such programs, we give youth the tools and resources to help navigate life’s challenges, including trauma, so that youth can show up fully in their communities.
Foster Youth Services
Access has partnered with the San Diego Workforce Partnership for over 30 years serving foster youth throughout San Diego County. Serving over 250 current and former foster youth annually, Access provides opportunities in workforce development, career pathway planning, and education. Embracing the philosophy of youth-driven, trauma-informed, strength-based focus to help young adults gain skills to increase their own resiliency and take steps toward becoming healthy, self-sufficient adults.
